Android N : Interactive Notification
Android N comes with many new changes. One of the major improvements is in the notification area. Android N is taking notification to the next level.
Lets have a look in the new features:
- DIRECT REPLIES :
- BUNDLE NOTIFICATIONS :
- NOTIFICATION PEEKING :
- CUSTOM VIEWS AND MESSAGE STYLES :
Now whenever the new notification comes we can reply back from the notification shade itself, no need to touch the notification message in order to open the respective app and reply. The developer can decide to add more context to the notification, like having a multi-line chat history in the notification shade itself.
When multiple notifications for a single app are received, they can be bundled together into a single group. This group can be expanded to see the individual messages. Changes in Android N allow developers to “progressively” expand the notification stack so that they can add context to the group or each notification.
A developer can use the peeking window to display the latest incoming notification of a bundled group. If the developer implemented the reply feature in the app then the user can have a peek on the app screen for a moment, and it also allows us to directly reply from the peeking window.
Developers can change how the notification looks for a particular app. If in an app there is multi-line notification then developer can make that each label is colored.
So far these all updates seems interesting. But still feedback is yet to come from many users.
